Why You Should Be Taking Coffee Naps
I like to party. And by party, I mean take naps. Don’t tell me I’m the only one.
What’s the right way to nap?
Unless you are like my children, you probably enjoy taking a nice nap on occasion. There have been numerous studies done on how you should nap… The length your nap should be, whether you nap in bed or on the couch, if you should nap in the dark, or with the lights on, or the curtains open.
The big problem I have when it comes to taking naps, is that no matter how long, or, not so long I sleep, I never want to actually wake up. Then, when I finally do wake up, I feel more tired and groggy than I did before. It takes a solid hour for me to feel awake again. Before I know it, I have wasted away half of my afternoon.
So what in the world is a person supposed do to get a good nap and not waste much time in the process? Part of the answer is: drink a cup of coffee.
Yep, it’s a real thing. You might also hear them referred to as Caffeine Naps.
Thanks to coffee, we now have a solution to the nap problem. Simply chug down, or just drink, a cup of coffee right before you lay down to catch some ZZZ’s.
This might seem a bit counter productive to consume caffeine before going to sleep, but sleep experts have done studies on it and the science backs it. Caffeine takes around 20-30 minutes to take its effect. If you drink a cup of coffee and then fall asleep within a few minutes, you will wake up as the caffeine is kicking in, feeling refreshed and well rested.
Studies show that it can improve performance and alertness.
No more two hour long naps, waking up confused about what year it is or feeling like you have been run over by a steam roller.
So, the next time you take a nap, try drinking a cup of coffee first. You might just decide to start a new daily routine.
